FAQ
I’m travelling solo. How does that work?
In Paris, joining us as a solo traveller is a great way to be part of a community and still have a chance to explore on your own. The tour price is based on double occupancy (two people to a room). If you want a private room, you simply choose the single supplement option of 840 Euros. This amount is the price of half a room for the six nights. There are no additional extra charges for solo travellers.
In Provence, due to the small number of rooms, there is not a single supplement option. All the rooms in the villa have queen or king beds.
What should I pack?
You can check our Practical Information page for more information right now. After you sign-up we’ll send you a detailed description of what you need to bring and what you can leave at home.
Are all meals included?
Not all meals are included. Because we know that you’ll want a little alone time, a fe wmeals are planned to be unplanned. Of course, we can help with recommendations and reservations.
In Provence all breakfasts, 5 lunches and 6 dinners are included. In Paris all breakfasts, 4 lunches and 4 dinners are included. There will also be tastings and workshops. Breakfasts are continental style.
Should I rent a car?
Not in Paris. The Metro system is efficient, easy to use and safe. In fact, when you arrive we’ll supply with you Metro ticket, a map and easy instructions on how to use the Metro. If you happen to get lost, just call our concierge who will help you get to your next event.
In Provence, while it’s not mandatory to rent a car, we recommend it for independence and flexibility. All the transportation to tour events are included but if you’re keen to explore the area on your own a car is indispensable.
Does the tour price include airfare?
No. We find that our customers are independent and like to make extra travel arrangements when they come on tour. Therefore, the tour prices include the ground portion of the trip only, starting at Charles De Gaulle airport for the Paris tours, and at the Avignon TGV (high-speed) train station for the Provence tours.
Do the Provence tours include transportation from Paris?
No. The absolute best way to get from Paris to Provence is to take the TGV, the high-speed train, from Gare de Lyon to Avignon, where either you can rent a car or catch a lift with us. We’ll provide you with more information on how to book your train in advance. There will be one scheduled pickup time at the Avignon TGV station and we’ll let you know what train to take from Paris to arrive on time.
Do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance protects you from life’s great unknowns, and we highly recommend it.
Do I need to speak French?
Pas du tout! Not at all. There will always be a guide to translate and help you get the most out of the events.
Can I bring my children?
The tour is geared to adults and is not tailored to children’s needs or interests, and we only have room for people who have registered and paid.
Can I bring someone who isn't participating in the activities?
We only have room on tour events for people who have registered and paid. However, in Paris, even if your travelling companion is not on the tour, there will be free time for you to spend together. If you bring someone who is not on the tour, choose the single supplement option so you have a private room.
In Provence there are no extra accommodations in the villa, we only have room for paid guests.
What’s the best way to beat jet lag?
We recommend that you arrive in Paris a day or two before the tour begins. It will give you a chance to recover and be refreshed and ready for the adventure!
What kind of physical shape do I need to be in to join the tour?
Paris is a walking city – Metro stairs, long city blocks, cobblestone streets. You don’t need to be an athlete but you must be able to walk a kilometre, and up and down stairs in the Metro. In Provence, too, you should be able to walk a kilometre and up a few easy hills.
